Our Story

I’m Jason Bige Burnett, an artist and maker based in Helena, Montana. I studied ceramics and printmaking, and for more than 15 years I’ve followed my curiosity through art, design, and the joy of making things by hand. MODTANA Fabric Studio brings that curiosity to fabric.

MODTANA is inspired by the people and places of Montana: the character of its towns, the shapes of its landscape, and the everyday details that stick with me. Those impressions find their way into patterns that feel playful, graphic, and rooted in this place.

Every MODTANA design begins in house with sketches, drawings, and doodles. From there, I play with shape, scale, color, and repetition until an idea finds its way onto fabric. The finished print is one moment in a process I love: trying things, following surprises, and seeing what happens when ink meets cloth.

MODTANA is part of Big-E Boy Studio, my broader studio practice for making goods and following creative ideas wherever they lead.
