MODTANA fabrics are hand-printed with textile inks. Small variations in the print are part of the process and make each piece a little different.
Our fabrics are heat-set to make them washable and pre-washed to remove potential loose dyes. For lasting quality, machine wash cold with similar colors and tumble dry low. Iron on the unprinted side.

Can I wash MODTANA fabric?

Yes! The prints are heat-set and washable. Machine wash cold with similar colors and tumble dry low. Most often fabrics are 100% cotton. Otherwise we will share the type of fabric it is if it varies from the usual.
Has the fabric been pre-washed?

Yes. We pre-wash our fabric to remove potential loose dyes. If you’re combining it with other fabrics in a sewing project, prepare those fabrics according to their own care instructions.
Yes. Iron on the non-printed side to avoid direct contact between the iron and the ink. We use a variety of inks and brands that are primarily designed for t-shirt printing to give you an idea of look, feel and texture.

Can I iron the fabric?
Do I need a special sewing foot?

Some inks have a slightly raised, smooth surface that can catch on a standard presser foot. If your foot drags across the print, try a nonstick, Teflon-coated presser foot or a similar foot designed to glide over coated materials. Test your setup on a small section before sewing your project.
